The council of San Pedro de Atacama have lived an outstanding development in the last years, thanks to the profound work done by the Ilustre Municipalidad de San Pedro de Atacama (San Pedro Council Authority).

Its management with the atacamenian communities is recognized for allowing and enabling the access of all the local population to the government services.

Among the development program stands out the opening of a gas generator that works 24 hours a day and improvements in the sewer net.

In the same way stands out the protection to the archeological patrimony, and the protection to the inhabitants and visitors, through the effective work of Carabineros de Chile (Chilean Police Department).
